How Are We Justified Before God?
Our salvation cannot be earned by simply doing “good things” such as by offering our service or money to people in need, to our church or to other good causes. These are indeed good things, and we should do them.
But the Bible tells us that we are justified (to be just or right) before God by His grace (gift) through the redemption that is in Jesus (Romans 3:24). This justification comes only by having faith in Jesus, and not by us doing “good things”. In Romans 3:28 we read: “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law”.
We need to be careful where we place our hope otherwise we are messing around with a matter that is far more serious than what we normally term as “life and death”. Hell is real and it consists of suffering, fear, despair, agony and hopelessness (no hope to ever be removed from it) that will never end.
In the book of Revelation we read: “And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone” (Rev. 19:20). In Rev. 20:15, we read: “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire”. Hell is a real place that no one can bear.

I read the same way you do! There are some books that have captured my atnitteon to the point where I devote myself to them until they’re finished but in general I have probably at least three books going at once. Probably more, actually. Sometimes I love a book so much I can’t bear to finish it for a year. And I drove my parents nuts as a child in my refusal to read library books I wanted to own my books because I reread my books. And let’s not get into fanfiction and how I tend to start reading fics that aren’t finished yet.Aa, reading. <3
